Choose one of the four topics.
1. Read Newjack and write a summary of "Chapter 3 Up the River." (800 words or more)
2. Listen to Ted Conover's "Talk to Tara" (June, 2001) interview and write a review of it. (800 words or more)

3. Read one of the following books in Japanese and write a review of it. (1,000 words or more)
4. Write a research paper exploring an issue related to the contemporary U.S. or Japanese penal system. (1,000-2,000 words)
