Current and period
maps and atlases are stored and used. For instance, this room
has toporgaphic maps which cover whole of Japan with a scale
of 2,500, 10,000, 25,000, 50,000 and 200,000 or landuse maps
as well as house maps and city planning maps mainly covering
Kyoto or the Kinki district.
In addition, we store many kinds
of monumental maps of great value including vegetation maps,
atlases and air photos of foreign contries, makeshift topographic
maps with a scale of 20,000 made in the Meiji period as well
as topographic maps of China and Southeast Asia made by Empire
of Japan. |

and Photogrammetry room |

Facilities for GIS,
remote sensing and surveying. Workstation server and high-end
Windows mashines are available for geographical digital processing
with GIS. Also, you can use laser printers, digitisers, multimedia
projecters and screens.
This room is mainly used by teachers
and graduate students, but also open for undergraduate students
to do thesis on GIS.
It is available to make presentation
concerning GIS as well. |

Facilities for
chemical experiments such as pollen analysis, processing of
satellite images, grain size analysis and water quality analysis.
They are used in the experimental
classes regarding physical geography. You can study how to
use experimental instruments and methodology of physical geography
practically. |

and surveying. This room has computers shared by graduate
students and sotisphicated computers that are available for
GIS processing in the classes and excercises. You can use
Windows machines and laser printers.
Moreover, instruments
and equipments necessary to show geographical information
such as stereoplotters and surveying tools can be stored and
used. |
