Bringing Language Education professionals up to International Standards

The Graduate School of Language Education & Information Science (LEIS)

Ritsumeikan LEIS has been selected for its " Bringing Language Education professionals up to International Standards" proposal, submitted to the MEXT Support Program for Improving Graduate School Education. Since 2007, the graduate education reforms have already been implemented along the lines suggested in the proposal.
matsuoka.jpgThe main part of this educational program features special graduate courses where LEIS students participate in language education programs at overseas universities, teaching practices abroad, integrated with hands-on critical analyses of school education in Japan. We strive to foster language education specialists with global perspective, who contribute to the development of human resources that actively participate in global-level careers through the internationally recognized Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) programs.

*TESL Certificate is also regarded at LEIS as a TESOL certificate: A specialized certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
