| Studying in
Kyoto |
 |
Kyoto is good place
for studying calmly. Because what is necessary for students is to
acquire basic view of things rather than up-to-date information.
In days when peaks and troughs are frequent, it is important to study
from what survive in the stream of the times, without following a
temporary trend. In Tokyo, in a flood of informations, making a choice
among them is difficult. In Kyoto which has the history of 1200 years,
Kyoto's self has suffered a choice in the stream of times. Our academic
tradition fostered here treasure an insight into what is 'true'
If you want to be a lawyer as a lifetime job, such insight is
necessary. SAEKI Chihiro,
professor emeritus of Ritsumeikan University, said "Even if it seems to
be new theory, someone almost propounded a similar theory in the past".
With viewing the garden of Ryouanji, we can be engrossed in thoughts
across time and place. Kyoto has a tone encouraging such 'study'.
