You may make photocopies in the library within the limits ofthe Copyright Law.
  1. You may only photocopy a portion of any given work.
  2. Theses an articles published in periodicals may be copies in their entirety but only after a relatively long period of time (Only if the next issue has been published or after 3 months)
  3. You may make one copy of each page at a time.
  4. Copies must be for the user’s research purposes.
  5. Regardless of whether compensation is received or not, do not copy copied materials or redistribute them. Click here for more information.
矢印Staffed Photocopying Service for Full-time Faculty Members

The Library offers a photocopying service for materials held by the University libraries to full-time faculty members as part of services offered to researchers.
If you wish to use the service, you are asked to consent to the terms of use.

 1. Scope of the Photocopying Service

  1) Eligible users
  • Full-time faculty members of Ritsumeikan University
  • Those who have received the approval of the Library's director after submitting a request
  2) Materials available for photocopying
  • Materials available for photocopying are limited to books and periodicals in stock at the Kinugasa Library, Shugakukan Research Library, Arts & Humanities Library, Media Center, Media Library and Suzaku Research Library. However, the following materials are excluded from this service.
       Non-print materials (electronic medium materials, etc.)
       Rare books
       APU library materials
  • The photocopying service is bound by the Copyright Law and other related laws and regulations.
  • Your request may be denied if the material is not on the shelves (e.g. on loan) at the time of request.
 2. How to Order

Requests can be made by email or FAX or in person at the counter at one of the libraries: Kinugasa Library, Media Center, Media Library, Suzaku Research Library.
Those wishing to make a request by FAX should use the Word format of the request form.

  • Photocopied materials can be picked up at the counter of each Library.
  • Photocopied materials are usually ready for pick-up in two working days after you make a request, except if that day is a university closed day. However, we will contact you to discuss the turnaround time if you have a large amount of materials to be photocopied, or the libraries have received a large number of photocopy requests, or you made the request on a library open day during a university holiday.
  • No cancellations are accepted after a request is made.
 3. Copying Fees/Payment Method
  • The fees are 20 yen per page for black-and-white and 60 yen per page for color (two facing pages of an open book are counted as one page). There is also a processing fee of 50 yen per article.
    "Per article" means per one independent literary work written by the same author or on the same topic comprised of consecutive pages. For books, White Papers or almanacs, etc., the material must be printed in the same book. For periodicals, the material must be published in the same issue.
  • The fee must be paid using Ritsumeikan's certificate stamps upon receiving the photocopied materials.
  • Accounts receivable are not an acceptable form of payment.
  • A receipt will be issued if you plan to receive reimbursement for the expense, such as via the Individual Research Material Allowance.
矢印e-DDS(Electronic Document Delivery Service)
 1. What is e-DDS (Electronic Document Delivery Service)?

e-DDS is a fee-based web service that allows users to request photocopies online as well as view materials. These services are applicable if e-DDS appears on RUNNERS.

 2. Eligible Users

Professors, associate professors, "Sennin" lecturers, assistant professors, and lecturers of Ritsumeikan University ("Tokubetsu Shohei" professors, visiting professors, chair professors, visiting associate professors, "Tokubetsu Shohei" associate professors, and part-time lecturers are ineligible for the service.)

 3. Outline of e-DDS Service
  1. You can request e-DDS for a publication with an e-DDS icon displayed on the detailed information screen from the OPAC search.
    You can apply for the service from outside the campus; however, you can only access the materials via the on-campus network.
  2. Once you receive a notification email that the publication you requested is available for reading, you have two weeks to read it. (Access is allowed only from the campus network.)
  3. Please note that the fees can be paid by payroll deduction only.
  4. Fees: 20 yen per page in PDF format (facing pages of an open book up to A3 in size are scanned as a one-page document.)
  5. Please follow copyright laws when using this service.
    • Only one copy of the documents is allowed to be printed out.
    • PDF files cannot be saved to your computer or any memory devices.
    • It is strictly prohibited to inform a third party of the URL for the PDF or distribute the file or printouts to anyone.
