History & Objectives

The Institute of International Relations and Area Studies (IIRAS) is a research center founded in 1989 for the purpose of promoting interdisciplinary academic programs. The topics of study groups in the IIRAS cover wide range of fields such as human security, regional issues in the South East Asia, international economic order and so on. Seminars and workshops are frequently held by the IIRAS in collaboration with some faculties. The IIRAS provides an important forum for visiting academics and professors as well as for the faculty members and students of Ritsumeikan University.
