My Favorite Food

I love tasting various ethnic foods in addition to traditional Japanese dishes. Especially I love eating good quality of sushi. I and my family used to go to a sushi restaurant called "Kaburaya" at Nagayama, Higashi-miyuki-cho, Toyohashi. It serves a great/fresh collection of Kaiseki-style sushi (a traditional sushi dish) in a comfortable and friendly facility. We are missing it very much since we moved to Otsu-shi, Shiga-ken in March, 1998. We may have to find the alternative. Now we are staying in Vancouver and find many ethnic food restaurants so we are happy to experience a variety of ethnic foods here.

I love cooking sometimes and had some opportunities to do so at home parties. There are some example dishes I have cooked.

I alos love tasting artistic Kaiseki Ryori (a typical traditional Japanese dishes) but it's often very expensive and I seldom have had a chance to taste it. Here is an example full-course dishes at a Kaiseki restaurant in Kyoto.

In addition to favoriteJapanese foods, I love to taste French, Italian, Chinese, Korean or Indian cuisine. However, I'm kind of diet to maintain my health and trying not to eat out so often. We found a nice Omelet House near my condo: Here is a typical set with only 750 yen (taxable) served by an owner chef.

I and my wife are also a lover of coffee. On weekends with my family I used to go to a coffee & cake shop called "Le Port" at Karaike, Minami-Sakae, Toyohashi that was closed after we left. We are missing them very much. We also found a good cofee shop named Jiyujin that provided us a variety of great roasted beans. So even after we moved to Otsu, we asked them to send some using the delivery service.

I love having a cup of coffee everyday and here is my favorite coffee shop named "Ansen" where you can buy some freshly roasted beans of various kinds. The shop name was changed from "Jiyujin" in January 2005. The owner couple welcomes you there.
