Takao is a freshman at a Japanese university. He takes an English class with Ms. Kathy Freeman. He likes English and is good at it. One day, Takao forgot to bring his textbook to class. Ms. Freeman noticed that he didn't have the textbook and asked him, "Where's your textbook, Takao?" Takao replied, "I forgot." Ms. Freeman seemed to be quite annoyed with him. Why was Ms. Freeman annoyed?

1. Ms. Freeman thought that Takao didn't want to study English because he didn't bring his textbook.

2. The reason Takao gave, "I forgot." was not appropriate enough as an excuse for not bringing the textbook.
