Master’s Degree Program on Regional Policy and Planning

Introduction

Overview

Policy science research requires the integration of a wide range of academic knowledge in order to look holistically at policy issues, analyze their root causes, and develop appropriate policy-based solutions. At the Graduate School of Policy Science we take a problem-solving approach to formulating visions for the future while ensuring that students obtain the appropriate methodological skills that enable them to excel in their analysis. We equip students in the program to operate within the business domain through training in negotiation and networking, in the public domain through fieldwork research, and in the NPO-NGO domain by providing students with numerous opportunities to interact with such organizations.

Objectives and Goals

While problem resolution requires skills in collecting information, analysis, drafting practical solutions, decision making, implementing policies, and evaluating results, we ensure that students also acquire a variety of general skills including the following:

  • The improvement of foreign language abilities in order to grasp issues from a global perspective and propel policy based on an understanding of international society.
  • Skills in information technology that will allow them to exchange information and communicate regardless of nationality, place, and time.
  • The skill of pursuing practical solutions through summarizing ideas, expressing their opinions clearly through presentations, and discussing with those who have differing opinions and ideas through debate.
