Words of Welcome

WELCOME TO THE STUDY IN KYOTO PROGRAM-A Message from the Chancellor

Boasting one of the most diverse selections of course offerings for study abroad students anywhere in Japan, Ritsumeikan University's Study in Kyoto Program offers not only Japanese language classes at varying degrees of proficiency and hands-on introduction to traditional Japanese culture and arts, but also English-based coursework in business and international studies-all at one of Japan's most international universities.

And what better location than Kyoto and Shiga? In addition to being Japan's ancient capital and the country's cultural epicenter, Kyoto is also home to over 20 universities, creating a unique blend between historical perspective and modern development. Shiga is well known for both its ecological preservation initiatives of Lake Biwa and as a center for industrial and technological development for companies like Panasonic and IBM Japan. Ritsumeikan's long history has fostered a rich network of academics and professionals in both Kyoto and Shiga, giving students unparalleled access to master craftspeople, distinguished professors, and cutting-edge research and technology.

Thanks to its active development in a wide range of different endeavors, Ritsumeikan University attracts dynamic students from across Japan and throughout the world. So why not come and join students from all over the world on the Study in Kyoto Program at one of Japan's liveliest schools? I am looking forward to having the opportunity to meet all of you here at Ritsumeikan.
