The innovative Study in Kyoto Program is based at Ritsumeikan University's Kinugasa Campus in Japan's ancient capital of Kyoto, allowing students a unique opportunity to experience both traditional and contemporary Japanese culture.
The Study in Kyoto Program is a non-degree program that offers students a well-balanced curriculum of both academic and cultural course selections through two tracks of study. For students with previous experience studying the Japanese language, the Intensive Japanese Language Track (IJL) offers Japanese language study of 12 hours per week. Students who have little or no previous experience with the Japanese language but are interested in Japan-related courses taught in English may apply to the English-based Japan and World Perspectives Track (JWP). Students enrolled in either track are encouraged to take Japanese Traditional Arts courses to obtain an increased understanding of Japanese culture.
