Kyoto Museum for World Peace, Ritsumeikan University

lobby

Helping to bring education to the public and emphasizing Ritsumeikanfs educational policy of gPeace and Democracy,h the Kyoto Museum for World Peace was created with the goal of contributing to world peace. The Peace Museumfs main objective is to convey the tragic realities of war; illustrating the efforts of those who oppose war, and to provide an understanding of the importance of establishing peace.

Since its establishment in 1992, over 520,000 people have visited the museum, which is the only comprehensive peace museum owned and operated by a university. The standing exhibit in the museum deals with three themes: the gFifteen Year War (1931-1945),h World War II and war responsibility, and War and Peace after WWII. In addition, the museum also hosts a number of special exhibitions, conferences, and events every year.
