SSH

Recognized as Super Science High school (SSH) by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology

Super Science High School

The viewpoints such as "a contribution to human beings", "cooperation beyond a country", and "the big dream for the future", are considered to be required for the future science instruction. It is the purpose of SSH not to fall into knowledge unbalance but to develop training and the creativity of a student's problem-solving capability, and originality. Research and development has been proceeded over 3 terms 12 years from the 2002 fiscal year. Meanwhile, along with our associated universities we are advancing our research capabilities. Furthermore, to help strengthen their functionality as a nucleus for mathematics and science education among SSH schools, the Ministry of Education has devised a further designation for certain schools, called “Core SSH schools”, later it became to be called as “SSH Science Technology human resource development priority frame”.

SSH Research and Development

SSH Research and Development

With the SSH project, education research which clarified the subject is performed as educational research development. In the specification over 3 terms, various measures, such as motivation to science, science research power, and cooperation with High schools and Universities, have been challenged. In this term, it has focused on the research and development which made "internationalization of science instruction" the cut end.

Subject Research

Aiming at training of problem-solving capability, or acquisition of creativity and originality, a student sets up a theme by each one and tackles subject research. Instruction other than teachers of this school is obtained also from the teachers of the Ritsumeikan University global innovation research organization (R-GIRO).

Science Fair・International Fair

Science Fair・International Fair

The Science Fair was established at Ritsumeikan Senior High School in 2003, and is being held this year for the 12th time with the gracious support of its ever-expanding number of contributors and participants. From the 2011 fiscal year, specification of "the core SSH" and "Science technology human resource development priority frame” are obtained from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and we are holding the fair as Japan Super Science Fair (JSSF). From 18 nations from overseas and areas, 28 high schools (116 students) and 11 domestic schools which are recognized as SSH were participated in JSSF in 2013. Although the cores of JSSF are the research presentations by verbal reports or posters made by participating students, other than this, communication through science topics, corroborative work beyond national boundaries, and experience of the international project which is coming in near future could be experienced. The measure which unites and understands mutual countries, such as cultural exchanges, is also valued.
