The last class with Prof. Yukio TAKASU

The last classes by Professor Yukio Takasu for the ‘International Security’ course were held on January 25th-29th, 2022. 

Professor Takasu has been instructing the course since 2011. Interactive discussions took place through case studies on regional conflicts, attended by students with a wide range of nationalities such as the Bhutan, Cambodia, Italy, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nepal and USA. Professor Takasu taught courses of ‘International Security’ and ‘International Organization’ at GSIR during these years with a wealth of professional and academic experiences

We would like to convey our deep and sincere appreciation to Professor Yukio Takasu. It was truly our honor to have him teach students at GSIR for many years.

 Professor Takasu represented Japan in many international fora, including as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York and Vienna. He also assumed prominent positions in the United Nations Headquarters, including the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Management. Now he serves as the Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Human Security. Concurrently, he is active in many capacities including as the President of the NPO Human Security Forum.
