One of the unique things I experienced in Ritsumeikan is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. When I first came to Japan, I could not speak Japanese and had no friends from my country studying at Ritsumeikan, which made me worried. But the friendly staff of Ritsumeikan University International Office helped me with all my paperwork and guided me through apartment hunting. They helped me settle down in Japan and the process was pain free. I still very much appreciate their kindness.

My research is mainly about locomotion control of a snake-like robot. The control method is based on a central pattern generator, called CPG for short. Currently, I am doing research on how to change the body shape of the snake-like robot according to different space widths using a proposed unidirectional CPG network. The final goal of my research is to achieve self-adaptive locomotion of the snake-like robot without any human assistance.

I am extremely grateful to be selected by the Japanese government as a recipient of the MEXT scholarship in 2009. This award has been a valuable asset to my doctoral studies and future career in the field of integrated science and engineering. My research uses field surveys and experimental setup. The research aims to investigate the possibilities of decentralized greywater reclamation and reuse for increasing the access to safe water use, improving sanitation and improving wastewater management in peri-urban areas of Bangkok, Thailand. The research has been built upon four scenarios: (1) feasibility assessment of greywater reclamation and reuse under certain conditions (water infrastructure, environmental issues, greywater characteristics and public acceptance of water reuse); (2) quantifying actual surfactant discharge loadings by domestic detergent use in order to develop the reclamation and reuse system for domestic greywater containing surfactants; (3) determining the fates of detergent surfactants in water environments; and (4) biological greywater treatment using biofilm process, focusing on removals of detergent surfactant (methylene blue active substance (MBAS) and linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS)), the effect of aeration and hydraulic retention time (HRT), sludge production rate and hydrolysis of polyphosphate. Based on the research findings, the potential decentralized greywater reclamation and reuse have been discussed and proposed to cope with the current issues in the study area.

One day I lost my wallet in the campus. I was very much worried as it had all my debit cards, credit cards, Insurance card, cash, residence card, and other important documents. I rushed toward my lab and tell my problem to my colleagues about my problem. They told me with confident smiles that please go to the campus security office and you will find your wallet. I reached the security office and I was surprised to see that my wallet was kept there intact with all the stuff and counted money. After ensuring that I am the real owner of the wallet, they returned it back to me with greeting "Aarigato gazaimasu". It was a great and pleasant experience for me. I came to Japan to learn how to improve quality of living through utilizing technologies in the fields of electrical and electronics. Applying wireless sensing network systems in the prevention of landslide disasters is my current research topic. In this system, we use sensors to detect signs of a landslide and transfer the information to our host system where we broadcast a warning to people. This network type can be applied in Japan, Vietnam, or any country to help avoid damages from nature disasters.
