Joint Workshop for Global Engineers in Asia 2016 was successfully held.
This workshop is a joint event for faculties, researchers, and students to strengthen and promote their research exchange among 4 Asian science and engineering universities (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) from Thailand, Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) from Indonesia, Ritsumeikan University (RU)). The 1st workshop was held in UTM Johor Bahru campus in 2014. More than 50 faculties and students participated and the event was a great success. Ritsumeikan University was the host for the 2nd workshop in 2015. Total of more than 100 faculties and students (44 from overseas universities and 65 from RU) participated last year.
This year, the 3rd workshop was held at KMUTT in Thailand (King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi) from July 25 to July 31. 15 graduate students and 5 faculty members from Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Ritsumeikan University participated. They were divided into groups based on their research fields, and made presentations in their group sessions. They exchanged various questions and answers actively to share their research in both group sessions and poster sessions conducted by students. The graduate students also enjoyed exchange with Thai students through going on a field trip, visiting laboratories in KMUTT and cultural facilities in the city.
The next workshop is scheduled to be held at ITS in Indonesia next year.
