Message from the Chancellor

Chancellor of the Ritumeikan Trust Kiyofumi Kawaguchi

Japan and India, which share a diverse cultural and spiritual foundation and consider each other global partners, have actively promoted exchange in various fields based on close political and economic collaboration.

Ritsumeikan University was selected as a participating university in the Project for Establishing Core Universities for Internationalization (Global 30) sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. After being selected, the Ritsumeikan Trust undertook the establishment and management of an Overseas Office for Shared Utilization by Universities in New Delhi, one of the world's major cosmopolitan cities, to further deepen people-to-people exchange and mutual understanding between the two countries.

Ritsumeikan has welcomed international students from various countries under the philosophy of creating a multicultural university based on its vision of international mutual understanding and has one of the highest populations of international students of any Japanese university. The newly opened Ritsumeikan India Office will provide information regarding universities and other institutions of higher education in Japan to people in India and promote educational and academic exchange, thereby contributing to building a more multi-dimensional relationship between the two countries.
