Statement
of the Director of the Kyoto Museum for World Peace,
Ritsumeikan University, on Iraq Crisis
|
Professor Dr.Ikuro Anzai
U.S.Government decided to take the plunge
into a military attack on Iraq without any definite resolution by the
UN Security Council for conceding the use of military forces.
I, as the Director of the Kyoto Museum for World Peace, Ritsumeikan
University, make the following statement;
(1) I protest against Iraqi Government that failed in sweeping away
the suspicion of possessing weapons of mass destruction, thereby giving
a handle for military attack.
(2) I protest against self-righteous political conduct of the U.S.Government
that decided to punge into a war against Iraq without valid resolution
by the UN Security Council, thereby betraying peoples'hope for peaceful
settlement of the issue and damaging the UN democratic decision- making
framework.
(3) I protest against the government of Japan that gave a strong support
to the U.S.military attack without a mature consultation with the National
Diet, which is contrary to, not only the spirit of the United Nations
Charter, but also that of the Constitution of Japan setting fundamental
values on renunciation of war, peace and democracy.
