question I would like to use audiovisual materials. Where can I use them?
answer

You can view/listen to audiovisual materials at the audiovisual booths located on the 2nd floor at the end of the central aisle on the left-hand side. Please confirm with the library map. Please ask at the service counter if there are any materials that you wish to use.

question Where can I find language learning materials?
answer

On the 2nd floor, right next to the entrance, on the left-hand side. Please confirm with the library map.

question Where can I find dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc.?

These are located centrally on the 3rd floor. Please confirm with the library map.

question Where can I find pocket-sized books?
answer

Pocket-sized books can be found on the 3rd floor. Please confirm with the library map.

question Where is the "Dokugaku Corner"?
answer

On the 2nd floor, right next to the entrance, on the left-hand side. Please confirm with the library map. The Dokugaku Corner was opened with the objectives of enhancing reading proficiency and expanding students’ intellectual horizons. It is maintained with the support of the Parents Association of Student Education Assistance.

question Where can I find material relating to careers and further education?
answer

Such materials are located centrally on the 3rd floor. You can find career information relating to businesses and industries in the career materials area. Materials stocked include new material concerning changes in job hunting practices, self-improvement materials, and qualification-related texts and workbooks. The section is maintained with the support of the Parents Association of Student Education Assistance.

question Do I need to make a reservation in order to use one of the seminar rooms (nos. 1–4) in "Piara" on the 2nd floor?
answer

If any of the seminar rooms (nos. 1–4) are vacant, you are free to use the room without making a reservation. However, if the room is reserved by someone else, please vacate the room when they arrive. Reservations may be made a maximum of 1 week in advance of the reservation time.

question I would like to search for books. Which computers should I use?
answer

Use a "RUNNERS OPAC PC" located to the right of the elevator on the second floor, or on the 3rd floor soon after exiting the elevator hall. Also, you can now search from the Ritsumeikan University Library's homepage. Using a computer, smartphone, or other device, click on the text that reads "Ritsumeikan University Library" in the upper left hand corner of the webpage to be redirected to the library's homepage.

question I would like to borrow a laptop computer. Where should I go?

Laptops cannot be borrowed from inside the library. All undergraduate and graduate students can borrow laptops to be used anywhere on campus from the ICT-Lab on the 2nd floor of Building C.

question I would like to read newspapers. Where are they located?
answer

You can find today's newspaper as well as newspapers from the past month in the "Newspaper Corner" located on the 2nd floor to the right of the elevator. Please confirm with the library map. Foreign newspapers are sent by airmail, so they can be read a few days after the publication date. Major newspapers from the past year are kept at the service counter. Some newspapers printed over a year ago are available in a database or on microfilm. Please ask at the service counter if interested.

question I want to read a thesis published in an academic journal. Where are they located?
answer

Recently published journals purchased for educational purposes can be read in the current journal corner located on the 2nd floor at the far end of the left aisle. Important older publications are kept in the bound journal corner on the 4th floor. Please confirm with the library map.

question When can I use the “Calculator Practice Room” on the 3rd floor?
answer

Calculator Practice Rooms can be used when studying using a computer or calculator to prevent the sound of keyboards from disturbing others who are trying to concentrate. However, you are not required to use this room if using a computer or calculator, it is only offered as a courtesy to others.

question Are any special procedures required to enter the “Research Zone” on the 4th floor?
answer

No, there are no special procedures required. However, only faculty, research fellows and Ritsumeikan graduate students (Doctoral Programs) can use the Reading Room for Research and the Individual Research Rooms. Seminar Room 5 can also only be used by faculty, research fellows, Ritsumeikan graduate students (Master’s and Doctoral Programs).
