Structural Bioscience Lab.
Global warming caused by increasing carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere requires urgent action. The environmental deterioration and expanding human population also cause infectious diseases; therefore, the new strategy for drug design is needed in recent years. In our laboratory, the structure-function-motion relationships of the photosynthetic proteins involved in carbon dioxide fixation, and the infection-related protein are investigated, using combined techniques of biochemistry, synthetic and cell biology, x-ray crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, high-resolution single-molecule measurement, and bioinformatics. Together with global collaboration, our study gives the keys to improve the natural environment and develop a new strategy for drug design.
