Call for Research Papers

The Asia-Japan Research Institute of Ritsumeikan University was founded in December 2015 under the Ritsumeikan Asia-Japan Research Organization as the 12th permanent research institute at Ritsumeikan University.

In accordance with the Institute's mission, "Cultivating Asia-literate, globally-capable human resources and contributing to the development of a common vision for the future of Asia and Japan," we are pleased to announce the launching of our second English e-journal, AJI Academic Bulletin. The first issue is expected to be released in October 2019 in a PDF format online.

We invite the submission of original research contributions in all disciplinary and multi-disciplinary fields relating to Asia and/or Japan. The institute encourages not only solid disciplinary researches but also strongly promotes interdisciplinary research through the development and fusion of various fields such as the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. We welcome all valuable and innovative papers on historical, contemporary, and innovative issues of Asia and/or Japan.

The papers will be published as 1) Research articles, 2) Research notes, 3) Brief research reports, and 4) Book reviews. Research articles and research notes will be peer-reviewed by a double blind review system. This will be clearly indicated when they are published. Brief research reports and book reviews will be put under the supervision of the Editorial Board. Please indicate clearly which category you are submitting your paper to.

The standard number of pages (typed as instructed in the AJI Style Sheet on A4 size paper) is as follows:

1.      Research articles: 12 to 15 pages.

2.      Research notes: 6 to 10 pages.

3.      Brief research reports: up to 5 pages.

4.      Book reviews: 2-4 pages.

Note: Please do not exceed the maximum numbers. In natural sciences, papers can be shorter, according to the standards of the respective disciplines.

Deadline and format for submission: 23:59 Japan Time on Monday, 1st July 2019, by an MS Word file attached to an email. For the formatting of papers, please conform to the AJI Style Sheet.

For details, please refer to the Submission Regulations of the e-Bulletin and the AJI Style Sheet.
