Biwako-Kusatsu Campus (BKC)

The Biwako-Kusatsu Campus (BKC), opened in 1994,now houses the three Faculties - composed of College (undergraduate) and Graduate School - as follows:

  1. Science and Engineering

  2. Economics

  3. Business Administration

The Faculty of Science and Engineering was first moved to BKC in 1994,followed by the Faculties of Economics and Business Administration in 1998.The relocation of the Science and Engineering took place as a result of the need for the latest state-of-the-art facilities in research activities. The making of BKC would not have been possible without the generous support from local governments and communities, specifically, the Kusatsu Municipal Government and Shiga Prefecture Government.

The BKC is equipped with one of the most advanced information network systems in Japan. Further, the joint collaboration with covers not only the Kansai region but also nationwide networks, has been highly successful and in fact, the Faculty of Science and Engineering received the highest ranking among all Japanese universities in a survey carried out by a U.S. consulting firm.
