Mathematical Science

The Mathematical Science Major places emphasis on exchange with and development of the hard sciences, with the mathematical science at the core, while providing an opportunity for students to carry out research that develops relationships with many other branches of science, not only the traditional natural sciences, but engineering, the social sciences, and the humanities as well.  At the same time, the training of scholars capable of meeting the current demands of society is also an important goal.

Three courses of study are offered within the Mathematical Sciences Major:

Mathematics Course Algebra , Geometry , Analysis
Theoretical Physics Course Field Theory , Fundamentals of Properties of Materials
Applied Mathematical Course Applied Mathematics

The curriculum is flexible, so that students can take experimental subjects in other majors as necessary.  The aim is that theory and experiment should complement each other.
