センターは、立命館大学で開発された卓上型シンクロトロン放射光装置「みらくる２０」及び「みらくる６X」を用いて、新しい生命科学を展開します。世界で初めての装置を用い、今までにない研究手法を開拓して、生命科学を展開し、次世代の医療、新しい生命モデル、適切な生命環境について提言します。 　センターは、２１世紀の生命科学を先導するために、物理学、化学、生物学、医学、工学、哲学といった異なる学問分野が、互いの違いを認識し、学び合う場を提供し、２１世紀に発信する学問風土の醸成を目指します。 　センターには、次の２つの施設があり、学内のみならず学外との共同研究を推進します。２つの施設とは、高輝度赤外線実験施設（みらくる２０）及び高輝度X線実験施設（みらくる６X）です。６００MHｚ　NMR分析装置も所有しています。

This Center was established by the MEXT 21st Century COE Program on June, 2003.

We propose the 21 Century medicines and the ideal human environment, and approach

to the meaning of the living by means of the synchrotron light, and by developing novel

instruments using the brilliant far-infrared radiation and a hard x-ray beam produced by

the portable synchrotron MIRRORCLE.

We have two facilities which are for the improvement of MIRRORCLE-20 and for the

development of MIRRORCLE-6X.

Also, we have the instrument for an analysier of NMR for 600MHz.

We are promoting to coraborating research with not only the other departments of our

university,but also the other universities.
