Our Philosophy

Our destination and philosophy　〜　creating new light makes advance　〜

Humankind is living with light since its birth. Our lifestyle was changed by the discovery of new ways to generate light. We discovered the way to kindle, the origin of the electronic light, as well as that light is electromagnetic waves by the Maxwell's electromagnetics, and use light to communicate. Furthermore, progress of quantum theory gave us the laser and atomic energy. There isn't the contemporary science without the laser. 　Now, the new light is called "syncrotron radiation" is directly radiated from the electron. It radiates high brightness X-ray. Superconductive synchrotron light source "AURORA" was developed by Yamada and his associates, and it operates in Ritsumei. Our laboratory created new synchrotorn source. We call it "photon strage ring", and it is the smallest synchrotron in the world.  　 　This device is kind of a laser directly stimulating emission from the electron, so different from ordinary laser. It can change the wavelength and emits high power far infrared radiation. Unlike synchrotron radiation, this device emits coherent light. Moreover, it is small but emits high brilliance hard X-ray. Different from another synchrotron light source, this is small, and that hospitals can install it, which allows them to use high brilliance hard X-ray to use investigation of medicine.
