Established in 1938, the College of Science and
Engineering enjoys one of the longest traditions among private universities in
Japan, with graduates totaling over 30,000. The curriculum offered includes
general education courses, basic courses , and specialized courses. General
education courses, allow freshmen/fresh women and sophomores to study subjects
related to contemporary issues. Development of board-ranging perspective is also
encouraged. The College puts emphasis on basic courses as well. Juniors and
seniors take specialized courses to develop a more advanced level of knowledge
and more sophisticated research abilities in their specialized fields. English
courses for the sciences are taught by native speakers with a strong foundation
in natural sciences in an attempt to improve linguistic abilities in specialized
fields. @
