1991年大阪大学基礎工学部情報工学科卒業．1993年同大学院基礎工学研究科 前期課程修了．同年，同大学産業科学研究所技官．1994年同助手．2003年同助教授，2007年同准教授．2015年4月，立命館大学 情報理工学部 教授．現在に至る． 博士（工学）．2007年4月から2008年3月までスタンフォード大学客員准教授．知識工学，オントロジー工学，主に物理的システムと人間の行為に関するそれらの応用等の研究に従事．現在，人工知能学会理事．
