The room is shared with all PhD candidates from three graduate schools. Students are provided with an individual study carrel and bookshelf to work more efficiently.

These common spaces are designed for graduate students to share ideas and research achievements through meetings, workshop and presentations and communications between students and faculty.

Currently, the university has 7 libraries across 4 campuses with a collection of more than 3 million books, over 90 thousand academic journals and e-journals, and offers a wide selection of both Japanese and foreign books, audio-visual materials, databases, and e-books. Students can request materials from another campus (including Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University). Graduate Students can borrow up to 100 items for 100 days.

At Ritsumeikan University student can use more than 100 databases, including searching for journals, magazine articles, dictionaries and encyclopedias, as well as for other specialized field.
