SPICA: SPecial Instrument for Cosmic-ray Astrophysics

SPICA is a sub-array of the extensive air shower array at the Akeno Observatory (Institute for Cosmic Ray Research, University of Tokyo). The main purpose is to search for astrophysical gamma-rays from the Universe in the sub PeV (=1015eV) energy region. It is equipped with improved fast-timing system and data aquisition system to obtain better angular resolution for arrival direction and lower energy threshold than the original array.
