The AY2023 Fall commencement ceremony took place on Ritsumeikan University's Osaka Ibaraki Campus on Friday 23 September 2022. Wearing classy hakama suits, three students in the American University second cohort who just completed the joint degree in August attended the ceremony.
With no mask mandate and guest limit, the ceremony was filled with a sea of smiling faces and the graduates cerebrated each other as they journey to new beginnings.
The pandemic brought unprecedented adversities to the students, delaying their arrival in Japan and forcing the two universities to switch to remote classes. They should be proud to have conquered these challenges.
There were plenty of smiles and tears of joy as they will go separate ways.
