Management Policy

1.We respect the students' autonomy

Although, of course, faculties have to teach students, faculties and students must be collaborators on an equal footing when we discuss about our studies. We hope students to realize that each of student must be a best researcher in his/her field.

2.Leading to Logical thinking

Logical thinking could be one of strong tools not only for your research activities but also for your privates and for everything. In our laboratory, we repeatedly ask students "Why?" or "What does it mean?" in order to promote students' logical thinking.

3.Transdisciplinary approach

One of characteristics of our laboratory is transdisciplinary research. This does not just mean that faculties, researchers and students in our laboratory are carrying out different types of research. We encourage students to solve interesting issue from various research points of view. More concretely, we aim at development of students who grapple with issues from both natural and social sciences.

4.Consciousness of social contribution

Some students engage basic researches and others grapple with applied researches. However, each research has its own meaning. It may contribute to the progress in relevant academic field or to practical society. Most important thing is that students have to proceed their researches always being conscious of their respective contributions. For this purpose, we actively participate factory visits, field surveys and academic meeting.

5.Swift and decisive

Research is always subjected to modification in accordance with obtained results. Thus, especially at an early stage of research, it is important to make a prototype (80 %) in a short days rather than to make a finished product (100 %) after long days.

6.Balanced research and play

It is important to balance research and play. Unplanned research brings about waste of time. Thus, students have to always manage their tasks and todo by themselves.

7.Research-hacking

We should make an effort for effective research. Automatization by programing is one of good examples. But, this concept should be expanded for the management of research such as task management and information sharing by using various web services. We call it "research-hack". We believe that effective utilization of research-hack leads to improvement of QOL (Quality of Life).

8.Encouragement of output

Research results should be reduced into our society. Thus, we aim at the development of presentation-skills in addition to that of research itself. We hope all the students set their sights on the presentation at joint-meeting with other universities, domestic and international conferences during their student lives.
