Overview

Founded in 1893, American University is located in the northwest Washington D.C. School of International Service, American University (SIS, AU) is the largest school of International Affairs in the United States and its eight areas of study offer students a wide range of possibilities such as International Affairs, International Communications, International Development and so on. The curriculum is interdisciplinary and focuses on theory and practice. In Washington D.C. there are not only 170 foreign embassies in the U.S, government office and a head office of international organizations but also there are various facilities such as the parliamentary library and Smithsonian Institution. Students can find opportunities to listen to live speeches of font-line distinguished people and American government officials. SIS provides students with ideal environment to deepen their expertise and broaden possibilities of their future career.

RU students will receive 12 credits of advanced standing when entering in AU.

RU students are to be enrolled in the International Studies Track of the Master of International Service(MIS) degree program.

Tuition & Fees

Tuition
  • Method A … Students are required to pay a regular tuition to RU. (AU tuition is not required under the RU-AU agreement, but if students wish to take classes more than the number of specified credits, additional credit fee is required.)
  • Method B … Students are required to pay full published international students tuition fees to AU. Students will be required to pay annual continuous enrollment fee of 10,000JPY of fee to RU while studying at AU.

* Only the top applicants can win a Method A, as a result of documents screening and interviewing.

Fees

DMDP students at American University will be financially responsible for

  • Grad Activity Fee: 30USD (per semester)
  • Student Technology Fee: 120USD (per semester)
  • Sports Center Fee: 65 USD(per semester)
  • Health Insurance (if applicable): 1,890USD (per year)
  • Any other expense not specified in this provision that may arise in the context of the student mobility.

Please note that fees listed are for the 2019-2020 academic year and are subject to change.
