Inaugural session of the University of East Anglia (UEA) – Ritsumeikan University (RU) Anglo-Japanese Global Forum: The Future of Japan’s Grand Strategy in the Asia-Pacific: Whither pro-active pacifism?
On 10 May Dr Thomas French (RU), Dr Ra Mason (UEA) and Dr Pierre Bocquillon (UEA) hosted the inaugural session of the UEA - RU Anglo-Japanese Global Forum. The UEA - RU Anglo-Japanese Global Forum is an annual event which builds links between faculty and students based at RU and UEA through engagement in student led discussion sessions. The event supports the burgeoning research and educational links between RU and UEA, which include the newly launched UEA-RU Dual Masters Degree.
The event was the first of its kind and centred on the theme of under the title of: ‘The Future of Japan’s Grand Strategy in the Asia-Pacific: Whither Pro-active Pacifism?’. The session was well attended and involved a series of student led presentations and faculty introductions followed by open discussion. The event proved exceptionally popular with the participants and plans are being made for the next year’s event.
