Students & industry
For prospective students and postdoctoral researchers,
and for companies considering collaboration.
Join the group
In our group, each member pursues an independent research theme and takes ownership of their work. We begin with the challenge of building new materials from molecules, moving from molecular design and synthesis to fundamental property measurements and the evaluation of material function. Along the way, members gain broad knowledge and experimental skills in organic and polymer chemistry, physical chemistry, nanotechnology, and applied physics. Regular research meetings and study sessions deepen understanding through discussion.
We value research that integrates synthesis, structural analysis, property analysis, and evaluation. By bringing chemical ideas together with physical perspectives, we carry projects from molecular design to materials development. We also actively pursue industry partnerships and international collaborations.
Organic synthesis takes time. In addition, in our laboratory, you need to learn a wide range of topics, from synthesis to function. Yet there is no substitute for discovering an unexpected phenomenon in a substance or material that you have created yourself. If you are interested in polymers, molecular assemblies, or optical, electronic, and mechanical functional materials, we invite you to join us in creating new materials.
We value people who identify important questions for themselves and pursue them with initiative. We welcome researchers who engage patiently with phenomena, learn through discussion with faculty and colleagues, and approach their work with intellectual honesty. If you are interested in “making things” (monozukuri) and in exploring soft engineering, we would be glad to hear from you.
Laboratory visits are welcome at any time. Please visit the laboratory directly or contact us through the contact form.

Prospective graduate students from other institutions
If you are interested in entering the Ritsumeikan University Graduate School from another university or an advanced technical-college program, and would like to conduct research in our group, please contact us through the contact form. Laboratory visits are always welcome. Questions about applications, entrance examinations, tuition, or scholarships should be directed to the Graduate School Office.
For prospective postdoctoral researchers
If you are interested in a postdoctoral position in our group, please contact us through the contact form.
Collaborate with us
For joint research and industry partnerships, please contact the BKC Research Office. In addition to the organic and polymer materials studied in our group, the Research Center for Advanced Materials at Ritsumeikan University can also advise on inorganic materials, including metals, ceramics, and glass.
