Welcome to Building Production,Construction, Material and Structural Design Laboratory!

World famous architect Le Corbusier once said, “A house is a machine for living in”. These words are not only emphasizing at balance of design and function, but also acquainted with constructability. The Villa Savoye, which is designed according to the modulor man, elevated from the earth and supported by 30 cm diameter columns or piloti, The Notre Dame du Haut with wall opening of 240 cm that perform the art of light and shadow, Sainte Marie de La Tourette with the 3 cm precast concrete window frame, The Unite d’habitation, a modernist residential housing suspended by large piloti and connected by expansion joint, all of these Le Corbusier masterpiece were built using sophisticated technologies. However, is it possible to apply all of these construction techniques in Japan?
Our laboratory works are aimed to study and promotes development of technology in structural design, constructability and productivity in order to realize such best architectural design.
