World Week Day 5　最終日

The final day of World Week is always a bittersweet one. We’ve spent so much time getting to know our World Week guest teachers and have learned so much about their countries, cultures, and lives. Over the course of the week, they’ve shared their stories and experiences with us, and in such a short time, they’ve become dear friends.

Our students met with their guest teachers one final time today. Each class prepared special farewell activities and games. After every class had a chance to say goodbye, we moved to the gym, where we held a variety of cultural performances.

Our students sang several Japanese songs for our guests. The entire school joined together for a beautiful rendition of “ふるさと” and a bilingual version of “Together.” Many of our guest teachers returned the favor with dances, songs, and performances from their own countries.

World Week ended all too soon, but the memories we made together throughout the week will stay with us for many years to come.

 ワールドウィークもいよいよ最終日を迎えました。まずは各クラスで企画した「お別れ会」で、一緒に遊んだりゲームをしたりして最後の時間を楽しく過ごしました。笑顔いっぱいで楽しむ一方で、「もうお別れなんだ」と寂しそうな表情を見せる子どもたちの姿もありました。最後に全校で体育館に集まりました。全校で心を一つにして日本の歌を歌い、英語と日本語の「Together」を大合唱しました。体育館いっぱいに響く歌声には、この一週間で生まれたつながりや、ありがとうの気持ちが込められていました。ゲストティーチャーからも、母国の歌や踊りなど、すてきなパフォーマンスを披露していただきました。たくさんの笑顔と学びに包まれたワールドウィークは、こうして幕を閉じました。この一週間で一緒に過ごしたかけがえのない時間は、子どもたちの心にいつまでも残る事でしょう。
