5月19日は京都での2つの大事なお祝いの日です。立命館大学の109歳の誕生日、国際平和ミュージアムの17歳の誕生日に当たり、私たちはこの著名な大学の先生方、学生、職員の皆さんはもとより、国際的によく知られた平和博物館の職員、ボランティア、友人の方々に、2750年の歴史をもつサマルカンドから心よりお祝いの言葉をお届けします。サマルカンドは、何世紀にもわたって、対話・アイデアの交流・協力そして平和の道である「大シルクロード」にあって歴史を刻んできました。

私たちは、あなた方の平穏と健康と繁栄を、また、人類のよりよい未来のためのあなた方の価値ある活動の成功を祈念します。

私たちは、あなた方がいつの日かここウズベキスタンに、そして、「東洋のローマ」と呼ばれている私たちの古い町を訪れることを歓迎いたします。

Dear Japanese Friends,

19 May is the day of two important events to celebrate in Kyoto. On the occasion of the 109th anniversary of Ritsumeikan University and the 17th anniversary of Kyoto Museum for World Peace, we'd like to convey to you, the faculty, students and the staff of your renowned university as well as to the staff, volunteers and all the friends of your internationally well-known Peace Museum our sincere congratulations from the 2750-year-old Samarkand, which for many centuries stood at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road - the road of dialogue, exchange of ideas, cooperation and peace.

We wish you all peace, health, prosperity and every success in your noble and valuable activities for a better future for humanity.
