研究関心は農業や農村の開発・発展にあります。主なフィールドは東南アジア（特にミャンマー）です。人々の生業や生活と生態・社会・経済環境との係わり合いを現地の視点から解きほぐし、それぞれの地域が望ましい将来像を構築するための情報発信や実践活動（国際開発事業への関与など）をおこないたいと考えています。
