Experiments at KEK-PF】 BL-9C and NW2A (Jun. 12, 2026, YI)
From 9:00 AM on June 5th, we conducted in situ XAFS experiments at BL-9C and micro-CT-XAFS experiments at NW2A simultaneously for 96 hours. This time, we had a large group of 12 participants in total: 5 M2 students, 4 M1 students, and 3 B4 students.
Due to YI's circumstances, the shipment didn't arrive until late at night on June 4th, so we started preparing at BL-9C from then and began the experiment on the morning of June 5th. At BL-9C, we started with an in situ CEY experiment and successfully observed the oxidation-reduction process of Cu2O particles with different shapes!
Setting up the sample in the homemade measurement cell requires skilled technique, but M2 student U is very familiar with that.
In NW2A, we observed the partial reduction of a single Cu2O particle using micro-CT-XAFS. Team Cu2O arrived at KEK on June 3rd and thoroughly prepared a lot of samples for the experiment.
Most of the photos at NW2A were chemical state mappings of Cu2O particles. The beam time was spent simply searching for particles that looked good.
Although we haven't had much time, we did go out for meals whenever the time and timing are right.
On the eve of the final day, we had a dinner party at Ichinoya, although unfortunately not everyone could join it.
During the BL-9C experiments, we encountered some trouble getting the cell temperature up sufficiently, but we managed to finish it. However, Mr. O triggered the alarm while they were cleaning up the gas system! Please don't repeat that mistake.
I'm glad we were able to complete the long experiment safely without any injuries. Now, let's thoroughly analyze the many experimental data we've obtained and aim to present our findings at an academic conference!/p>

As part of our annual in-house recreational activities, we held our third table tennis tournament at the BKC Gym!
Two O san (M1 and B4) have prior experience, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they do in the future.
With our new B4 members joining us, let's have a fun and energetic year of research activities!

【XAFS Experiments at KEK-PF】 (Mar. 2, 2026, YI)
On February 27th (Fri.), from 9:00 AM for 48 hours, we conducted XAFS measurements at BL-12C of KEK-PF. This was a regular XAFS experiment without in situ measurements or other special measurements.
Since it's a continuous measurement with sample changes, that's what happens when it's nearly 48 hours.
