Thank you to our friends at Chitralada School!

In English class Grade 4 students had an online exchange with the same age students in Thailand. There was singing from both sides, and Chitralada students taught us an elephant dance, some greetings, and some dance and Khon moves too. We also learned about mango with sticky rice, pad thai, papaya salad, and their April New Year’s celebration called Songkran Day. In small groups, Ritsumeikan students asked many questions and introduced something about their winter vacation or New Year’s in Japan. It was a great chance to meet each other and glimpse another culture, to see some of our differences and understand our similarities as well. We hope to meet again someday soon!

チラダスクールの先生方・児童のみなさん、ありがとうございました！

英語の授業では、4年生の児童がタイの４年生の児童とオンラインで交流しました。まず両校が歌を歌い、次にチラダの児童のみなさんは象の踊り、タイ語の挨拶、そしてコンと伝統踊りの動きを教えてくれました。 また、もち米とマンゴー、パッタイ、パパイヤサラダと、4月の新年のお祝いであるソンクランデーについても学びました。グループ活動では本校の児童は多くの質問をし、冬休みや日本での正月について紹介しました。お互いに、異文化を学び合う絶好の出会いで、同じところや違いを理解することができました。またすぐ会えることを期待しています！
