Handling of Classes When a Weather Warning is Issued due to Typhoon, etc.

※Due to changes in the Ritsumeikan University Regulations on Curricular Classes, we have revised the guidelines for handling classes in the event that a Storm Warning or an Urgent Warning related to weather or other hazards is issued, or when public transportation services are suspended due to weather conditions or other causes. （2026/9/11）

Policy on Class Handling

In the event that a Storm Warning, an Emergency Warning or an Urgent Warning related to weather or other hazards is issued, or if public transportation services are suspended due to adverse weather conditions, etc., handling of classes, final examination[s], and makeup examination[s] is as follows.


However, operations that are not included therein shall be determined by the President then the information will be posted on RU website and RITSUMEIKAN STUDENT PORTAL.

Handling by Class Format

When classes are canceled university-wide, the handling of classes depends on the class format as follows:
    ・face-to-face classes and Live-streaming classes
  • face-to-face classes and Live-streaming classes (synchronous interactive classes conducted via Zoom or similar platforms) will be canceled.

    • ・On-demand classes
  • On-demand classes (classes delivered through moodle+R or similar platforms) will, in principle, be provided as scheduled.

    • Changes to Class Format

      When the issuance of weather warnings or other emergency alerts is anticipated, the instructor may decide to change an face-to-face classe and Live-streaming class to an On-demand class.If any change is made, students will, in principle, be notified through moodle+R by the day before the class. Please be sure to check announcements from your instructor.
