Meeting graduates who are active in society is called an alumni visit (OBOG Homon). Since there is a lot of job hunting information that cannot be learned solely through company brochures, information sessions and the internet, visiting alumni will allow you to learn the facts about the company, work information, etc., and give you a clear image of working there.
To find alumni information at the university, use the “OBOG訪問 (OBOG Information Search)” on the Career Center's website or the “体験談 (Job Hunting Records)” on Ritsumeikan “キャリタスUC” website. After that, make appointments for visits with alumni and prepare in advance for the visit. For details on the flow and important tips for alumni visits, please refer to the following website.
https://www.ritsumei.ac.jp/students/career/obog/ (Japanese only)
There are also alumni visit apps run by private companies. Please be sure to check each app’s usage rules.
Job hunting
Key points for finding employment in Japan include: (1) starting your job search and securing an offer while still enrolled, (2) developing strong Japanese language skills, and (3) enjoying a fulfilling student life. We have published a website (in Japanese) that summarizes information on job hunting in Japan for international students, so please take a look.

For more details, please use Career Center'sindividual consultation.
The schedule for employment varies depending on the expected graduation date, region, industry, and company size, so be sure to check the schedule of the companies you are interested in beforehand.
We encourage you to be prepared as following;
Self-analysis/ Researching companies (creating a personal statement) → Entry sheets(ES)/ Application documents (creating a resume, preparing certificates) → Written test/ Interviews (interview practice).
For more details, please refer to the JOB HUNTING IN JAPAN.
<JOB HUNTING IN JAPAN>
By looking back on the values and interests cultivated through the various activities of student life, you can find your individuality from your thoughts and behavioral characteristics. “Self-analysis” is to discover and organize yourself from different perspectives.
As a tip for self-analysis, first look back on what you have worked in university. You can find your individuality by exploring more specifically “why you worked on things” and “how you worked on things,”
For methods of self-analysis, please also refer to the JOB HUNTING IN JAPAN.

When researching companies, it is important to combine publicly available information, such as corporate websites, "Industry Maps(Gyokai Chizu)" and Japan "Company Handbook (Shiki-ho)", with information accumulated on your own, such as through visiting alumni (OBOG訪問) and internships. We offer database search services that RU students can freely use.

1. If you want to work in Japan, you need to start job hunting during your studies and secure a job before graduation. For international students, it is especially important due to restrictions on the 'Student' residence status. After graduation, you lose this status—even if it hasn’t expired—and cannot stay in Japan to continue job hunting.

2. The Career Center provides support that can be used even after graduation. However, please note that this support is available only in Japanese. For details, please refer to the link below.
https://www.ritsumei.ac.jp/career/alumni/support/
3. For students who have been searching for a job but have not yet been successful and who wish to continue job-hunting activities after graduating/completing studies, it is possible to change to a “Designated Activities” status of residence (valid for 6 months) if certain requirements are met. For more details, please visit the website of the international center.
