Call for participants: “FUKUSHIMA STUDY TOUR” (RENEW)
Fukushima Prefecture is inviting foreign students from overseas as well as those studying in Japan to join the Challenge Fukushima Study Tour from 9th to 14th March 2016.
This study tour aims to provide an opportunity for students from University College London and foreign students studying in Japan to understand the undergoing reconstruction activities in Fukushima by visiting places and interacting with people, and to share their experience with many others across the world.
Under the cooperation agreement between Fukushima Prefecture and Ritsumeikan University, RitsuThe participants are expected to ①Share their experience in Fukushima on SNS as well as with their friends and families ②Share the current situation of Fukushima at several occasions as much as possible.meikan is sending five foreign students to join the tour.
We look forward to receiving applications from those interested in disaster recovery activities.
<Program Outline (tentative)>
Schedule: Wed. 9th – Mon. 14th March 2016 (6 days 5 nights)
Location: Fukushima City and other coastal areas in Fukushima Prefecture,
Tokyo Electric Power Company Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station etc.
Host: Fukushima Prefecture in cooperation with Ritsumeikan University
Number of positions: Five (undergraduate/graduate foreign students at Ritsumeikan University)
How to apply: Apply online between Sat. 23rd January and 9am Mon. 1st February.
Selection: The result will be notified by Mon. 8th February by e-mail.
Cost: Participants are expected to pay for their own meals and insurance.
*Fukushima Prefecture will pay for the accommodation, some meals and local transportation, and Ritsumeikan will pay for the return trip between Kyoto and Fukushima.

Requirements: ① Able to attend the pre-session on Wed. 2nd March, the whole duration of the tour from Wed. 9th – Mon. 14th March and the follow-up session in April or May 2016.
② Have no food restrictions (in order to avoid unexpected incidents when trying the local cuisine during the program)
Note: The schedule in Fukushima has not been confirmed yet, but there is a possibility of visiting the nuclear power station or the nearby area.
You will inspect the Fukushima Daiichi NPS from inside the bus.
The required time for the tour is about 1 hour.
Please be reminded that you may be exposed to rariatin of up to 0.1mSv during the tour.
In addition,you may pass areas where the radiation dose is high(more than 1mSv/h).
You will be provided a protective suit and a mask in necessary situations, but we respect your own judgment.
