Research Topic

I specialize in international relations, focusing on three main research themes: the political and economic ties between India and other countries in the Indo-Pacific, the impact of religion on inter-state relations, and the intersection of gender and security in the Indo-Pacific. Recent research spans India-Japan security ties, critically analyzing religion’s impact on national identities and security narratives, as well as Women, Peace, and Security issues in the Indo-Pacific.

The Indo-Pacific has become a center point of the security friction between states that seek to advance their strategic, economic, and political influence through investments, alliances, and partnerships. The region is also fraught with non-conventional security issues such as gendered impacts of conflicts and cultural or faith-based clashes, which highlight how complex factors like religion can shape the interests and actions of different actors in regional or global politics.
