Research Topic

International economics covers topics like globalization and international trade. Over the last three decades, more and more countries have been engaging in more and more trade. Specifically, I’ve been researching the effects of trade openness on the labor market. The international fragmentation of production processes called global value chains (GVCs) impacts labor, such as wages, unemployment rates and working conditions. My goal is to unveil these effects and propose effective policies that can maximize/minimize the benefits/costs.

By constructing a model of countries (people), you will be able to predict their next moves. You can also investigate a phenomenon and its determinants by estimating the relationships among different variables. Economics research uses scientific methods to uncover the underlying causes and effects in the human world.
