過去の部活動
My after-school activities mainly involved sport, rotating between rugby, soccer and gaelic games. Students today have a wider variety of activities to choose from. I wish I had had the opportunity to try more things.
得意な科目
The subject that I most enjoyed was English. The curriculum in Ireland involves studying poetry, drama and prose, with ample opportunities for self-expression. I was lucky to have teachers who were very encouraging and progressive in their approach.
苦手な科目
Although music is a great source of pleasure in my life, I was not very good at it in school. To this day, I am still trying to learn my first full song on the guitar.

What are the appealing and interesting points of Information Science and Engineering?

Information Science and Engineering is exciting because it allows us to understand how digital systems work and how they can be designed to solve real problems. I find it especially appealing that ideas can quickly become working tools or applications that people use in everyday life.

How will the knowledge gained in the College of Information Science and Engineering be useful for students after graduation?

The skills students learn, such as problem-solving, logical thinking, and working with data, are valuable in many different careers. Graduates can apply these abilities not only in technology fields but also in business, education, research, and many other areas.

Please describe your major research, activities, and current research themes.(Itemize)

Artificial Intelligence in Education - Examining how AI tools can support practice, assessment, and personalized learning.
Educational Materials Design - Devising and evaluating learning materials and activities that help students practice language skills effectively.
Cultural Familiarity in L2 Reading - Investigating how learners’ familiarity with cultural context influences engagement and comprehension when reading in a second language.

What are your expectations for new students entering the university? How would you like to see them progress during their time at the university?

I hope students remain curious and are willing to explore challenging ideas with an open mind. If they actively experiment, collaborate with others, and learn from their mistakes, they will grow both technically and personally during their time at university. Do not outsource your critical thinking to AI. Your brain needs exercise to grow stronger.

Please describe technologies that you find interesting now.

I am currently very interested in how controlled and focused AI sandboxes such as Notebook LLM can be harnessed to improve second language learning outcomes.
