現在の研究テーマ（または専門分野）について教えてください。
My area of research and instruction is general American law. I previously worked as a lawyer (licensed in the states of New York and Connecticut) at law firms and as in-house counsel for an aircraft manufacturer. As a result, much of my experience centered on contractual issues, and the disputes that can arise between parties to contracts.
どんな学生時代を送っていましたか。
I never visited a foreign country before going to college. In my third year, I was a homestay student in Japan for one semester. This was an amazing experience, and the best way to learn about a new language and culture. I now encourage all of my students to study abroad as much as possible!
現在の専門分野を志した理由・きっかけを教えてください。
I became a lawyer because I liked to argue. But I soon learned that a good lawyer must do much more than that. In fact, it is better to avoid arguments in the first place, through careful communication and clear contracts.
