【EPS Type-C】My Sweet Hometown発表会を開催しました。
EPS Type-Cでは、“Learn to Contribute"（社会貢献）の目標のもと、学生がそれぞれの関心に基づいて調査を行い、英語で作成された調査の成果を発信するという、PBL（Project-Based Learning）型授業に取り組んでいます。
2017年度前期の前半プロジェクトとして、1回生全クラス（EPS Project I）が共通で “My Sweet Hometown“を実施しました。本プロジェクトでは、学生が、日本各地の自分たちが生まれた地域の魅力を、英語を用いて海外の人々に発信することを目的に、各地の歴史や文化的な特徴、観光資源などについて調査し、英文のパンフレットとエッセイを成果物として作成しました。
作成された成果物を基に、5月16日、23日に、A、Bクラス （担当：田林葉教授、前田萌授業担当講師）、5月26日に、E、F、Gクラス（担当：池上久美子非常勤講師、松永歩非常勤講師、小阪真也助教）が、それぞれ合同で、英語による発表会を開催しました。
A、Bクラス合同発表会においては、長崎県が受け入れてきた異文化、鹿児島県の恵まれた自然や特産物、隠れた観光名所として注目される京都市左京区一乗寺、高知県の自然・歴史・観光地・食べ物、名古屋市の代表的な観光スポット・食文化、関西国際空港に至るまでの南海電車沿線の観光スポット、宇治の一日観光プラン、「歴史的建築物」と「体験」をテーマとした滋賀県の観光コース、といった多彩なテーマが揃いました。
E、F、Gクラス合同発表会においては、兵庫県西宮市の阪神甲子園球場や、白鹿記念酒造博物館をはじめとする代表的な観光スポット、岩手県の世界遺産としても登録されている関山中尊寺や、300年以上の歴史を持つ一関市・大東大原水かけ祭りなどの伝統的な行事、そして、京都市で多くの国内外の観光客を集める三大祭りや、絶滅危惧種の保護に取り組む京都市動物園など、調査を通じて明らかにされた各都道府県の様々な魅力について、発表が行われました。
フロアからは、発表における英語表現の明瞭さ、成果物における英文表現の正確さや、ジェスチャーや動画を駆使した発表の工夫、ターゲットである海外の人々の視点からの改善点、冊子の作りこみ方についてなど、様々なコメントが出されました。
学生は、前半プロジェクトで学んだ知識を活かして、 “Learn to Contribute"の目標のもと、後半プロジェクトに臨みます。

【EPS Type-C】 Birthday Project発表会を開催しました
EPS Type-Cでは、“Learn to Contribute”（社会貢献）の目標のもと、学生がそれぞれの関心に基づいて調査を行い、英語で作成された調査の成果を発信するという、PBL（Project-Based Learning）型授業に取り組んでいます。
2016年度後期の前半では、1回生全クラス（EPS Project II）が共通で“Birthday Project”を実施しました。本プロジェクトでは、学生が自分たちの生まれた日に発生した出来事を当時の新聞から紐解き、その出来事が社会に与えた影響や、発生した問題、現在までの変遷について調査し、英文の社会時評を作成しました。
2016年11月8日には、学生が作成した成果物について、各クラスで予選を勝ち抜いた2クラス（担当：小阪真也助教、松永歩非常勤講師）の代表4チームによる合同発表会が開催されました。当発表会においては、今年度初の試みとして、CRPS専攻クラス（General Education Course I、担当：田林葉教授）の留学生も、当発表会のファシリテーター及びフロアとして参加し、日本及び諸外国からの学生双方が、英語を用いた質疑応答や議論を行いました。
当発表会においては、①日本と諸外国の数学のテスト結果から見える日本の教育における問題、②ババシャツの社会的変遷、③映画「もののけ姫」が社会に与えた影響、④ハロウィーンの歴史的展開について、各クラスで選抜された代表4チームが、それぞれ発表を行いました。
各担当教員及び発表したチームを除く、EPS Project II及びGeneral Education Iの受講学生の投票により、優勝は、「日本と諸外国の数学のテスト結果から見える日本の教育における問題」について報告を行ったチーム（小倉萌加さん、柏木真希さん、齊藤優里花さん、武智峻洋さん、黒田拓臣さん）に決定しました。
学生は、前半プロジェクトで学んだ知識を活かして、 “Learn to Contribute”の目標のもと、後半プロジェクトに臨みます。

[EPS Type-C] Joint Presentation on the Birthday Project
Under the idea of “Learn to Contribute”, the Course of the EPS Type-C has been conducting PBL (Project-Based Learning) styled seminars which aim to develop English skills of the students through conducting research projects based on their interests and publish the research results in English.
In the second semester of the academic year of 2016, the classes for the first-year students (EPS Project II) conducted the “Birthday Project”. In this project, the students conducted their research projects based on the articles of the Japanese newspapers published in their birthdays around 18 years ago. As research results, they wrote essays in English on social influences, problems, and current situations of a topic/event which appeared in the paper on their birthdays.
The 4 teams of representatives of the 2 classes supervised by Shinya Kosaka, Assistant Professor, and Ayumi Matsunaga, part-time lecturer made presentations in the Joint Presentation on the Birthday Project. In this Joint Presentation, as the first attempt, the international students of the class of CRPS (Community and Regional Policy Studies) supervised by Yo Tabayashi, Professor contributed to the event as facilitators or participants. Both domestic and international students had discussions and exchanged their opinions about the presentations in English.
The 4 teams of representatives from the 2 classes made presentations about 4 different themes: (i) the problems of education in Japan found through the comparison of the results of international examinations of mathematics between Japan and other countries, (ii) the social trajectory of “Baba-shirts”, (iii) the impact of the animation movie “Princess Mononoke (Mononoke Hime)” on the society of Japan, and (iv) the historical developments of the Halloween.
By the votes of the participants except for each teacher and teams of representatives, the team which made the presentation about the problems of education in Japan (Ms. Moeka Ogura, Ms. Maki Kashiwagi, Ms. Yurika Saito, Mr. Shunyo Takechi, and Mr. Takumi Kuroda) was selected as the winner of the Joint Presentation.
The students of the EPS Type-C courses are now conducting their next projects for pursuing the goal of “Learn to Contribute”.
