今日から学校が始まり、全体の始業式終了後、IBコースオープニングセレモニーを開催しました。

生徒代表のマボハンさんのスピーチで始まりました。春休みの普段と異なる時間の流れの中で、自分を見つめ、自分の「生きがい」とは何かを考えるきっかけとなったことを紹介しました。

続いての先生代表スピーチはグラディス先生。新入生にはDavid Lynch 監督の映画「Dune」から「A beginning is a very delicate time.」（はじまりは大切に丁寧に）という言葉を送り、2年生と3年生には、ストア派の哲学者、マーカス・アウレリウスの「Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now, take what’s left and live it properly」（あたかも君が既に死んだ人間であるかのように、現在の瞬間が君の生涯の終局であるかのように、自然に従って残された時間を生きなければならない。）という言葉を送りました。

また、新入生と上級生の初対面のイベントとして、新入生が一人ずつ自己紹介を行い、会場は温かい拍手で包まれました。

School started today and the IB course opening ceremony was held after the overall opening ceremony.

The ceremony started with a speech by the student representative, Mr. Mabohang. He introduced how the unusual time of spring break gave him an opportunity to look at himself and think about what his "purpose in life" is.

The next teacher representative speech was given by Mr. Gladis. To the new students, he sent the words "A beginning is a very delicate time." from David Lynch's movie "Dune," and to the sophomores and juniors, he sent the words of the Stoic philosopher Marcus Aurelius, "Think of yourself as dead. Now, take what's left and live it properly," and encouraged them to start fresh.

As a first meeting event between new students and upperclassmen, new students introduced themselves one by one to the audience, which was filled with warm applause.
