IMコース 留学体験記 Vol.21 オーストラリア留学開始スタート！

IMコースでは現在総勢100名を超える生徒が、カナダ・ニュージーランド・オーストラリアの3か国で留学中です。後発部隊の高校１年生は１月から早くも1ヶ月の月日が流れました。

今回はオーストラリアに留学中の1年生Mさんがオーストラリアで始まったばかりの留学の様子についてリポートしてくれます。この記事を書いてくれたのは、オーストラリア到着６日目です。全てのことが初めてで、緊張しっぱなしの時期だと思いますが、Mさんはどのように過ごしているのでしょうか。ぜひ、記事をご覧ください。

6 days have passed since I left Japan, and today is my second day with my host family. Many things have happened during these 6 days. Today, I will tell you some of our life in Australia.

At the Itami airport, many of my friends came to see us off and our teacher asked us to make a speech to our friends or family. I don’t know why but I said, “I will”, and I don’t think I will forget that. We rode two airplanes in total for over 12 hours. It was very hard. When we arrived at the airport in Sydney, at first, I didn't really feel that I had come to Australia.

On the first day in Brisbane, we went to Mt. Coot-tha. The view was beautiful. On the second day in Australia, we had a class by an local teacher. It was interesting and we learned something important in school and the first day with our host family. We had lunch at a food court. I was a little nervous if I could order and pay. But people at the store were kind. The class in the afternoon finished a little earlier, so we could walk and see around the city. We walked along the Brisbane River. I rode the ferris wheel with my friends. We were able to see the beautiful city view. We tried to go to the beach, but my friend took a wrong turn, so we didn’t have enough time to go, but it became also a good experience. On the third day, we went to a store to buy shoes and after that, we made a group and walked around with local college students. My group went to beach, a museum and Art Gallery. It was hard to understand everything that one of the college students said, but I had a very good time.

In Jan 15’s morning, I had to say good bye to my friends who came together from Japan. It was very sad. I noticed I had wonderful days with the IM students. When I saw my friends getting into their host families' cars, I realized for the first time that I had come to study abroad.

When I gave some souvenirs to my host family, they looked happy, so I was very happy too. I had my first dinner with my host family. It was hard for me to understand everything, but it isn’t a problem. I didn’t come here to be able to speak and listen to English. If I study English hard, I can understand everything and speak it fluently. Now I am a little tired of spending time with my family. Everyone says first three months are tough, but I will communicate and study hard to shorten that period.

Next week, the school will start. I’m a little nervous, but I will try hard and make a good time at school!!
